Older adults and people with disabilities often need medical equipment or supplies. Ability Tools works with the California Assistive Technology Reuse Coalition, aka Reuse Programs. These programs are non-profits throughout California that will take medical items. As a person ages, they may develop health challenges and temporarily need medical equipment or supplies. Once these items are no longer required, the Reuse Programs allow individuals to donate unwanted medical equipment and supplies to their program for low-income individuals who need them. By donating, individuals in need are able to obtain gently used or new medical items for free or low costs. The goal is to empower older adults and people with disabilities to live independently.

Do Ability Tools Work with Assistive Technology (AT)?
Yes! Assistive Technology is any object, device, hardware, software, or tool used to make life easier. AT gadgets allows a person with a disability to do things for themselves that might otherwise be difficult or impossible to do because of their impairment. Although AT can be high-tech items, it can also be low-tech items such as a reacher or magnifying glass. In addition, Ability Tools enable individuals to buy, sell, borrow, or freely obtain Assistive Technology through their website.

Ability Tools (formerly known as AT Network) is part of the California Assistive Technology Act Program. This program is made possible through funding from the Department of Rehabilitation, financed by the U.S. Department of Education, Rehabilitation Services Administration, with funds allocated by the Assistive Technology Act of 2004.
